No captcha image

Postby jonbcheshire » Tue Aug 21, 2007 11:09 am

I only have easymod and anti-spam acd (latest) installed, only the latest version no other versions or other mods.

Installed ok except on the registration page the code image doesn't display just appears as the cross as a broken image.

Any ideas where i can look to fix this?

Fixed reuploaded folder, thanks so much - the first board i've found with a read me first that acutally fixes the problem! apologies i didn't read this first, i'd given up on them on other boards.

Great mod by the way its blocking all the porn spam on my rpg game forum so far and saved me so much time, will recommend it!

Will make a donation this week too.

I have what I'm guessing is a similar issue. Despite reloading fonts, using the new usercp_captcha.php, etc., I only get the default phpBB2 captcha, not the better captcha.

This is a plain vanilla 2.0.22 install with just EasyMod 0.3.0 and ACP 2.08 installed.

I've verified in the Admin section that I've selected the better captcha version.

Sorry but you will just have to use the old captcha then, it seems to be a bug with certain server setups.

I discovered that my server did not properly have GD and FreeType properly installed. GD was there, but FreeType was not. Once I got the hosting company to enable FreeType, everything worked great with the better captcha stuff.

I was able to verify my server's config by uploading a simple php file. For those in the same situation as I was, just create a text file and enter the following:

<?
phpinfo();
?>

Save the file as something like "phpinfo.php" and copy it to the public_html directory on your host. Just call it using http: // yourserver.com/phpinfo.php.

These lines need to appear on the info screen in the GD section

FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with freetype

Hope this saves someone else some grief.

I guess the big question is... does anyone know how to install FreeType?

I own the server and I cannot find much on how to install these plugins. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

i have the same problem, that no picture will appear when i use the better captcha. I've tried reuploading the folder and uploading the ttfs one by one... Nothing of that really helped.
Great software, saves me lots of time!
